Walk Score: 96
Transit Score: 78
Bike Score: 90

Adams Morgan, a neighborhood on the hill adjacent to Dupont Circle, was built on diversity in the 1950s when residents rallied for the desegregation of its two elementary schools, John Quincy Adams and Thomas P. Morgan. Since then, it’s become known for its cultural diversity and as a welcoming place for all residents.

The heart of the neighborhood is on 18th Street between T Street and Columbia Road, with T Street being the bottom of the hill and Columbia Road, the top. Adams Morgan is known for its lively nightlife. This popular neighborhood is a great spot for anyone looking for artisan cafes, clubs, bars, fine dining, street art, and gorgeous brick rowhomes.

Bar-hopping and dancing until dawn are favorite pastimes on 18th Street. Nightclubs, bars and affordable eateries line the commercial strip. There’s a wide variety of eclectic shops and places to be discovered by those with a curious nature. Atlanta has Little Five Points, LA has Melrose, New York has the The Village, but DC has Adams Morgan. Adams Morgan is a unique neighborhood blending vintage vibe-artistry with a culture of activism. You can also find many popular yoga studios, bookstores, and vintage clothing shops and unique antique stores as well as great coffee shops, and world famous bars and live music venues, like Madams Organ. The Line Hotel is very popular and you will often see people enjoying drinks on the 40 to 50 steps that span the front of the former church on a warm DC night.

Adams Morgan’s attractive rowhouses, pre-war apartment buildings, and newer loft apartments have grown in value as the neighborhood has evolved. Affordable apartment options are still aplenty in many larger buildings and condos.

Those who want a full urban experience but appreciate eye-catching architecture and a proximity to green space will feel at home here. Trying new foods, listening to new music and making new friends keeps this neighborhood constantly humming.
